Time, temperature and water aging failure envelope of thermoset polymers

چکیده
Epoxies and epoxy-based fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) are significantly affected by environmental impacts during their service life. Exposures to water, humidity, temperature UV radiation known substantially influence the (thermo-) mechanical properties durability of materials. Design-relevant characteristics like strength, stiffness, or glass transition change with time. Therefore, expensive test campaigns often necessary in advance a structural design. Prediction models based on physical relations phenomenological observations typically required reduce costs increase reliability. Consequently, combined methodology for fast prediction long-term accelerated aging purposes is presented this work common DGEBA-based epoxy. master curves obtained creep constant-strain-rate tests under moisture impact. A time–temperature–water superposition Larson–Miller parametrization demonstrate that time-saving CSR modeling can replace long-lasting testing. Resulting, allows determine polymer’s entire (environmental) failure envelope relatively short time low testing effort.

Star Polymers and the Failure of Time-Temperature Superposition
We model the arm of a star polymer as an anchored random walk in an array of fixed obstacles with the added assumption of an energetic cost associated with the walk retracing its previous step. By including this energetic penalty for such “hairpin” turns on the chain, we are able to account for the thermorheological complexity of long-branched hydrogenated polybutadiene yet not introduce deviat...

We report the design and synthesis of a polymer structure from a cross-linkable epoxy-ionic liquid system which behaves like a hard and brittle epoxy thermoset, perfectly ductile thermoplastic and an elastomer, all depending on controllable network compositions.
متن کاملToughening of thermoset polymers by rigid crystalline particles
The toughening of an aromatic amine-cured diglycidyl ether of bisphenoI-A epoxy with particles of crystalline polymers was studied. The crystalline polymers were poly(butylene terephthalate), nylon 6, and poly(vinylidene fluoride). Nylon 6 and poly(vinylidene fluoride) were found to toughen the epoxy about as well as did an equivalent amount of CTBN rubber. Poly(butylene terephthalate) was foun...
متن کاملEffect of Water and Temperature on Seed Germination and Emergence as a Seed Hydrothermal Time Model
The physiological process of germination depends on several environmental factors such as temperature, water potential, light, nutrients and smoke. Water and temperature are determinant factors for seed germination. Both factors can, separately or jointly, affect the germination percentage and germination rate. The effect of temperature on germination and water potential on germination canoften...
